Narrating the past: Preterite vs Imperfect

In this lesson we will revise the use of the preterite and the imperfect in the same speech.

Remember that we use imperfect to describe the past and the preterite for expressing events with a clear end.

Example:

Cuando estudiaba biología, conocí a mi esposa. 

When I was studying Bilogy, I met my wife.

We will start the lesson with the question:

¿Qué hiciste ayer? / What did you do yesterday?
